For spur cylindrical gears with smaller tooth widths, the root crack generally develops and expands gradually along the transverse surface at the root, and eventually breaks when the gear becomes exhausted; However, for spur cylindrical gears with large tooth widths, the load is usually concentrated at one end of the teeth due to manufacturing deviations. When cracks propagate along the diagonal direction, the final part of the teeth will break. 3. Improve the quenching and tempering process to provide sufficient tooth core ductility.

4. Strengthening processes such as shot blasting and roller pressing are carried out on the tooth roots to make them more sturdy and durable.
